Acupuncture & TCM
Traditional Chinese Medicine

History and Background

Traditional Chinese Medicine originates back 3,000-5,000 years ago in China. It is one of the oldest and most long-standing health care systems in the world and is globally gaining more popularity.

When the body gets sick, tired, injured or has chronic pain, it’s a way for of showing imbalance and disharmony. As a trained doctor, practitioner and acupuncturist, we are able to recognize exactly what is causing these patterns of disharmony, which can be related to lifestyle, nutrition, habits, thought processes, our environment or surroundings. We can offer practical and effective methods to making the appropriate adjustments and treatment plan. These include acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional advice, moxibustion, cupping, Qi Gong exercises, tuina massage or regenerative injection therapies. A combination of all systems creates an ideal environment for healing and health.

This approach to health, although different from what we have grown accustomed to here in the West, can be used in conjunction with western medicine to great effect.

This is evident today in China and other parts of Asia, where TCM delivers over 40% of healthcare services alongside a thriving western medical system. We must make use of the best treatment methods we have today and work together in complete synergy.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very fine sterile needles at specific points on the body (over 400 points). This process stimulates movement of energy within the body and allows natural healing to take place. Modern research has shown that when a needle is inserted at specific acupuncture points on the body, there are corresponding changes that occur in the brain.
Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt at all and you may even feel the needle work it’s magic.
