Prolotherapy & Neural Therapy Injections
Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy is a type of regenerative injection therapy that functions to stimulate the repair of injured tendons, ligaments, joints and other tissues. The word “prolo” refers to the “proliferative” effect of this therapy on injured tissue. It is a targeted injection of dextrose solution that’s delivered to the injured tissue where a focused and controlled inflammatory response is generated. Through this mild inflammatory response the wound healing cascade is initiated to promote the growth of new tissue. With the new collagen growth the existing tissue is strengthened with improved stability to the affected area. This ultimately serves to decrease pain and improve and restore function.
Neural Therapy
Neural therapy is an injection therapy utilized for chronic pain conditions. The injection involves an injection of a local anesthetic such as procaine that works to treat chronic pain and normalize pain signalling in affected tissue. The solution is injected into peripheral nerves, scars, glands, trigger points and other tissues. The function of the local anesthetic is to normalize dysfunctional pain signalling which is commonly at the root of chronic pain conditions.
